BackGround of the COld war
Many historians argue that the start of the Cold War dates back to just after World War II had ended, while others argue that is began after World War I. The Cold War was the most important political and diplomatic issue of the later half of the 20th Century. The main Cold War enemies were the United States and the Soviet Union. The Cold war got its name because both sides were afraid of fighting each other directly. In such a "hot war," nuclear weapons might destroy everything. So, instead, they fought each other indirectly. The Cold War was a decades-long struggle for global supremacy that involved the capitalist United States against the communist Soviet Union. The Cold War stretched over many years of fighting over values. The communists were beginning to take over. In the first few years of the Cold War, the conflict was mainly political and not military. After World War II, the United States seemed to hold the bigger role in the war and was more powerful. Use this site to gather information that lead the world throughout the Cold War years.
